The holiday season has arrived at the Kansas governor’s mansion. Governor Laura Kelly was present as a horse and carriage delivered the annual Christmas tree to Cedar Crest on Tuesday morning. Each year, the governor’s mansion tree comes from a different Kansas tree farm. This year, it’s from the memory lane Christmas Tree Farm in Rantoul. Owner Harry Peckham says he remembers and appreciates the tradition of finding a Christmas tree.
The tree was delivered on an old stage coach by Robin Dunn of Dunn’s Landing from Wellsville. Peckham says if you do buy a real tree to remember to cut a half inch to an inch off the base of the tree to keep it lasting longer this season and keep plenty of water on it.
