The holiday season is fast approaching and that means that a West Virginia 63 foot Norway Spruce named “wa-thom-tech-wee” which means bright star in the Shawnee Tribal Nations will make it’s way to Washington DC to take it’s place among the long line of U.S. Capitol Christmas trees, with it’s lighting ceremony schedule near the end of the month. Amy Albright, of the U.S. Forest Service tells us what to expect this next week.
Thousands of ornaments will adorn the tree. The lighting ceremony was held November 28th. A nine child from the Shawnee Tribe from West Virginia will have the honor, with a short speech and then lighting the tree.
