Have you seen the new Kansas license plate? Kansas drivers will soon see a new standard license plate, featuring seven digits and a yellow, black and dark blue color scheme. The Kansas department of revenue revealed the new plate design last week. Governor Laura Kelly chose a replacement for the existing standard plate earlier this month citing safety concerns. The overwhelming opinion of the public is they don’t like it. First, it’s colors exactly matching our sport rival to the east, Missouri. Kelly says the yellow is the golden color of wheat from the state of Kansas. KOFO listeners chimed in to our Facebook post. One person wrote, “BLAH! Nothing about it say Kansas. Where is our Kansas Pride?” Another, “YUCK, an exact replica of New York’s old plate”. Still another, “This will not go on either of my vehicles. There are other options, like personalized plates.” On the bright side, one person said, “In the time of decisiveness between Americans, something we can all finally agree on. It’s terrible!” Hideous, terrible, disgusting. Only one person for it in our 100 comments. Could there be some further discussion about a change? Yes, legislators have sent a letter to the governor asking her to delay production of the plates until it can be discussed.
