Hiring and keeping good employees is always a challenge for the City of Ottawa, as it is for any employer. The Ottawa City Commission has received the results of a compensation study. Compensation Consultant Malayna Halvorson Maes, told Commissioners that public sector workers can always move to the private sector.
Maes says each year, the city should evaluate the placement of current employees, and if there is a shift in the market for a specific position, a market adjustment could be given.
