When Baldwin City Mayor, Casey Simoneau, ran for office, a lot of his platform centered on adding sidewalks and trails throughout Baldwin. Recently the city was awarded a $282,000 Grant for pedestrian crossing improvements on highway 56, particularly at U. S. 56 and 8th Street and at Santa Fe Drive. He says the crossing is personal to him:
He adds that Baldwin has been able to add over $4 million on trails and sidewalks in the city. With the completion of this project, Baldwin will become the first community in Douglas County with 100% completion of safe routes to school. Construction is expected to begin within the next four to six months.
