The older adult population is increasing as people live longer and healthier lives. They are also driving later into their lives. The Kansas Department of Transportation is encouraging older drivers to make sure they are safe. Drive Safe Kansas says that when we’ve been driving for decades, we may not see when physical changes start to effect our ability to drive safely:
While older drivers are less likely to drive aggressively, they are considered vulnerable road users because crash data show they account for a disproportionate number of annual traffic fatalities in the United States, over 17% last year.
