The Ottawa City Commission received a briefing on the Ottawa Police Department’s latest successful renewal of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, also known as CALEA. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says the guidelines cover a lot of areas:
Weingartner says CALEA Accreditation offers some measure of protection against incidents that might involve a citizen filing a lawsuit against the police department.
