The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are warning about a new scam. Several people have received, what appears to be, unsolicited purchase agreements for property in the mail. The letter says the property includes the coverage of any outstanding property taxes. Don’t fall for it, they say it is a scam. The mail is coming from a company called “1 sweet place, LLC” based out of La Mesa California and notes an agreement with First American Title. Officials say the person or persons behind the letter are trying to gain personal financial information which you would not disclose unless it is a protected, and legitimate business transaction.
Anyone who believes they have been a victim of this scam, or any other scam, should report it to the Kansas Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection.
