You think you had a shock when you received your property tax statement? The city of Ottawa about fell out of their chair, so to speak, recently when it came to a property tax bill on the city golf course. City Manager Brian Silcott explained the problem to the City Commission:
Yep, you heard that right…a 220% increase from the year before. Kinda makes me almost thankful for my 8% increase. Silcott requested that the golf course be put into the Land Bank, which effectively resolves a tax liability of over $75,000. The Commission readily agreed to the request.
