Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Mathias, officially retired from the Ottawa Fire Department Friday, December 22nd, after serving 27 years in Ottawa. Former firefighters and fire chiefs were on hand, as well as city officials and over 100 others to see the Chief off. Mathias gave an emotional talk about his respect for all those who came before him and thanked his family, his fire family and the city of Ottawa for giving him such a great opportunity.
