One important part of our local economy and history is agriculture. One very important part of the Franklin County economy is the Ottawa CO-OP. There are 56 CO-OPs in Kansas and according to labor statistics, for every job the CO-OP provides, one and a half other jobs are created within the community it serves. Franklin County Development Council Director Paul Bean:

The Ottawa CO-OP offers service not only to farmers, but to the general public. Tire repair, propane services and so much more. The Ottawa CO-OP is managed by Clark Wenger and operates several grain storage units across the area.
