Drivers in Miami County beware. A change in the speed limit is coming to Block Road near Trinity church. Residents of the area requested the change to County Commissioners and recently they established a 45 miles per hour speed limit on Block Road between 343rd and 351st Streets. That is the area known to most as “Block Corners, past the church until the curve at 351st. The stretch of road used to be 55 miles per hour, which is the limit on all county roads unless otherwise posted.
A serious accident on the road prompted the request for a lower speed limit. After a traffic study was conducted, county officials realized that the average speed on the road was 57 miles per hour. Commissioners say the change will encourage vehicles to slow down as they are approaching the curve. The vote was unanimous to approve the request for a 45 mile per hour limit.
