USD 456 Marais des Cygne Valley received a nice gift to upgrade their library. They were awarded a $65,000 grant through the Walter and Evan Jones Testamentary Trust to support the District Library Modernization Project. Over the years, the district’s libraries have fallen behind in its effort to provide reading materials to students that are recent, relevant, and engaging. Also, the library’s catalog system has become outdated and a number of aspects regarding the physical facility have aged significantly.
Superintendent Joe Sample says the grant will be able to bring over 2,000 current books of all genres into the library to help increase circulation among all students, bring the catalog system up to current standards, track the collection efficiently, and update the facilities housing the collection itself.
