What some people call an invasion by illegal migrants coming across the southern border is reaching close to home. In this case, into Linn County. Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend says some recent crimes brought things into focus:
Friend says one crime involves the so-called ‘grandparent scam’. In this case, a suspect went to an elderly man’s home and told him he needed to pay $9,000 to get his grandson out of jail. Fortunately the victim got a photo of the suspect and a license plate number. Investigation revealed the man had links with a Mexican cartel.
