The deadly shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade has sparked disagreement among Kansas government leadership. The question has, once again, been raised: is it time to increase regulation of firearms?

Kansas Secretary of State, Scott Schwab says that it’s been a very heavy week, and he doesn’t think those decisions need to be made while people are feeling the emotions that they have at the moment. He is calling for a pause for the grieving process and then to make logical decision on what to do.

Representative John Carmichael says he is a gun owner and strongly believes in the 2nd amendment, but he also believes that something has to change and that it’s time for action.

A mass shooting is defined as an incident in which four or more victims are shot or killed. The Kansas City incident was the 49th mass shooting in the United States in only 45 days of the new year.
