Kansas Secretary of State, Scott Schwab, has announced that 84 counties are being awarded $1.9 million in grants to help improve the physical security of county election offices. Of those, three are in the KOFO listening area and include Franklin, Anderson, and Miami Counties, They will receive funding to upgrade security cameras and monitoring systems, access control, such as locks and doors, hardware storage and transportation, locked cabinets, rolling carts, and cages for storage of election equipment.

The grant funds are part of the “Help America Vote Act” funding provided by congress to help improve the administration of elections, including to enhance technology and make certain election security improvements. Counties receiving funds must provide a 10% match in funding.
