In case you missed it and are running an hour behind, Daylight Savings time started this weekend and, though the recent onset of daylight savings time did not actually lengthen our overall day, it did add an extra hour of daylight in the evening hours. Daylight savings time also signals something else is coming. Mary Knapp, formerly of the Weather Data Library at Kansas State University, says if you get longer days, you get something else this area is known for – severe weather…

She adds that severe weather can occur anytime. Kansas has had tornadoes every month of the year. Last week was Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kansas. One thing weather officials urge people to do, is have multiple ways to be notified of severe weather. Apps, computers, tv, NOAA weather radio and, of course, stay tuned to KOFO this spring and always, for the latest, up to the minute information on severe weather that effects our area.
