Governor Laura Kelly has pushed for Medicaid expansion every year in her Governorship, and every year, it has been rejected. At a rally last week, she fired up a crowd of supporters saying that she would never give up the fight and rural hospital closures are a major talking point:
Senate President Ty Masterson says that expanded Medicaid does more harm than good for rural hospitals and puts a strain on providers. The House Committee on Health and Human Services as agreed to a hearing on Medicaid expansion, but has not set a date for the hearing yet.
