The first Presidential Preference Primary in Kansas in more than 30 years coming up one week from today, on March 19th, but advance voting is already underway. But in this election, you are not electing a president, you are just merely picking who you want to see on the ballot in November. It is a ‘preference’ primary because it is an election where the vote totals are given to a political party to allocate delegates to candidates at the National Convention. Franklin County Clerk Janet Paddock says you have to have a party affiliation to vote:

The four Republican candidates are: Ryan Binkley, Ron Desantis, Nikki Haley and Donald Trump. All but Trump have dropped from the race, but all names will appear on the ballot The four Democratic candidates are:Joseph Biden.,Jason Michael Palmer, Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson. The last two have dropped from the race.

Advance voting will be open each weekday from 8:00 to 4:30. Saturday hours will be available March 16th, from 8:00 to noon. Advance voting ends at noon Monday. Polls will be open March 19th at regular polling locations from 7:00 to 7:00.
