It is National Poison Prevention Week and most people think about poisonings when it comes to medication. The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the most common medication poisoning come when kids get a hold of blood pressure medication, acetaminophen, antidepressants, ibuprofen and attention deficit disorder medications, among other things. However, Wendy Stephon from the Poison Control Center says even adults can make mistakes:
Some tips to keep children safe…keep medications stored in a locked cabinet or box. Keep them in their original child resistant containers. Discard unused medication properly. Most pharmacies have a drop off container for such medications. Never call medicine ‘candy’ around children.
