In the City of Garnett Season Newsletter published recently, Garnett City Manager, Travis Wilson, talked about some of the projects that were completed in the city in 2023. Wilson says Garnet saw the addition of Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store, a new Short Stop Convenience store and Papa John’s Pizza. He saws the biggest hurdle they overcame was seeing the completion of the Cedar Valley Reservoir Auxiliary Spillway Project. The city also installed new storm water drainage, curb guttering as well as new business entrances installed along Maple Street between 4th Avenue and Redbud. That project should be completed this spring.
Wilson says there was movement on the airport project and they were able to acquire two pieces of land near the airport. More land will be acquired this year as the city pushes toward the end goal of getting a new tarmac and runway built. One project that continues is the waste water line project and water treatment plant that should be done this year.
