Following weeks of unrest and protests at colleges across the U. S., any concerns over a potential interruption did not materialize. Commencement at the University of Kansas went off without a hitch on Mother’s Day, aside from the event occurring in a construction zone. Some were concerned about KU’s graduation ceremony on Sunday and the potential of pro-Palestinian student-led protests that might interrupt the proceedings.

Protesters continue to call for the university to disclose and divest any financial commitments with Israel. Three people were arrested on campus during pro-Palestinian protests this past week. On Thursday, May 9th, Kansas, police forced the group “Students for Justice in Palestine” to leave a protest encampment on KU’s campus. The university claims the group hasn’t been following university assembly policies.
