The overlaying of 12 miles of Old 50 Highway will buy some time while the whole road is eventually widened, but the price tag is up there: almost a million dollars. Franklin County officials say this will consume much of the Public Works Department budget, but County Administrator Derek Brown and County Clerk Janet Paddock says essential road function budgets will not be affected:
The price tag of the project will come to almost $973,000 and this does not affect the four miles of highway now undergoing widening.
