A crash involving two vehicles last night, May 22nd, on 59 Highway south of Lawrence sent a woman to the hospital. At 9:00 last night, first responders were called to the intersection of U. S. Highway 59 and North 1200 Road, just south of Lawrence.
According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of an Acura proceeded into the intersection during a red light and attempted to turn left from North 1200 Road onto U. S. Highway 59. This caused the Acura to collide with a southbound Buick Envision that had a green light. The driver of the Acura, a 30-year-old Lawrence woman, was transported by ground ambulance to a Topeka area hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Her three juvenile passengers and the driver of the buick, an 87-year-old Baldwin City man, and his passenger, were checked at the scene and not transported.
