Representatives from the Kansas Department of Commerce and Kansas Tourism were in Garnett yesterday, May 21st and had a big surprise with them. They visited Garnett City Hall and presented the city of Garnett a giant check for a grant award of $94,181. The money will go towards the North Lake Road Improvement Project. Many people have been working on the project.
Garnett officials thank the “Thrive Allen County” staff, organizers of the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, and everyone else who put in countless hours of work on the project before the grant was submitted. The North Lake Park Road is a big part of the Grand Prix Revival and has had some structural and maintenance issues for the past couple years. Officials say the money will make the repairs they are seeking one step closer to reality.
