One person has died and two others were injured after a crash in southern Johnson County yesterday morning, May 26th. It happened near I-35 and Sunflower Road. One vehicle with a single occupant crashed into another that had three occupants inside. The driver of the car that was hit, 76-year-old Sherry Pena died at the scene. The two passenger, 45-year-old Natalia Pena and a six-year-old male passenger were transported to the hospital with critical injuries, both are expected to survive.

The driver of the car causing the crash, 39-year-old Jason Brumley was arrested for DUI and taken to the Johnson County Detention Center.

Law enforcement everywhere are urging people everywhere not to drink and drive. There are over 49 million people on the road this Memorial Day. If you have to drink today, or any day, don’t get behind the wheel of a car, designate a driver and help everyone arrive safe to their destination.
