In case you haven’t noticed, the city of Osawatomie is now allowing modified traffic on 6th Street between Brown Avenue and the Southwest Levee. Traffic is now permitted all the way through the community and beyond the Southern Levee. Northbound traffic entering the city has to detour east onto Kelly Avenue before using 5th Street or 4th Street to continue north. Traffic exiting 6th Street businesses in the construction area must exit to the south and onto Kelly Avenue. At this time, northbound traffic is not permitted on 6th Street between Kelly and Brown Avenues.
The total reconstruction project has an overall estimated timeline of 10 to 12 months and is still on track to be complete by early January of 2025.
The city of Osawatomie will keep the public updated on the progress of the overall project as additional milestones are set.
