Another fishing contest, and another cheating fisherman. Officials in Louisiana say something wasn’t quite right when a fisherman turned in his catch during a tournament on Toledo Bend. According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, 38-year-old Aaron Moreau, used lead sinkers to increase the weight of his fish at the Big Bass Splash Tournament on May 17th.
Agents with the Department say they determined that Moreau had placed 2.59 pounds of lead weights in the fish before turning it in for weigh-in. A wildlife department spokesman says Moreau left the scene but was arrested later on a warrant when he turned himself in at the Department. Moreau was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center. A fishing contest fraud conviction could result in up to a $3,000 fine and one year in jail.
