Friday, May 31st, the Kansas Supreme Court upheld the integrity of Kansas elections. With the court win, Kansas will continue to have some of the safest and most secure elections in the country. Kansas Attorney General, Kris Kobach, issued the following statement. He says the court’s decision confirmed that the legislature has the constitutional authority to establish proofs ensuring that voters are who they say they are. The court also rejected the argument that limiting the number of ballots a person can deliver restricts free speech. The Kansas law limiting the number of ballots a person can deliver is set at 10. Kobach says that decision is an important way of limiting ballot harvesting. The signature validation has been law for over 10 years. The laws were challenged by a case brought by the League of Women Voters, Loud Light and Kansas Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, among others.
