A meeting this month involving the Franklin County Development Council, Superintendents from all the area school districts, Neosho County and Ottawa University officials, and all the manufacturing companies in the city of Ottawa will focus on the Kansas Commerce Department Apprenticeship Program and how it would benefit them. Development Council Director Paul Bean:
The Apprenticeship Program was designed by the Kansas Department of Commerce to build the workforce in Kansas by training employees in a particular skill, in hopes of keeping them close to home. Bean notes the large number of high school and college graduates in the area and the potential they have in building the workforce in Franklin County.
