A recent anonymous donation has posed quite the task for Anderson County Museum staff. Someone donated nearly a thousand images from the Strain Studio that operated in Garnett from 1922 to 1963. The problem is most of the images don’t have identification on them. The donation covers the lives of Anderson County residents from the Great Depression through World War II and right up to the civil rights movement. Most are black and white, a few in color. They are in great condition and have very clear images of people; but, museum staff are having trouble identifying the people in the pictures.

The photos document not only people, but outdoor images of homes, farms, businesses and churches. So, who are these people? If you would like to look at the collection and possibly help identify some of the people featured, you can stop by the museum on the corner of 6th and Maple and ask to see them. The museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 3:00 and Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00.
