Governor Laura Kelly announces Kansas has been selected to expand mental health and substance use services. According to the governor’s office, expansion is part of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, know as CCBHC, Medicaid Demonstration Program, which will provide greater access to crisis and behavioral health care services in communities. Kelly says the model is essential to the resources of Kansans need to overcome substance use disorders and improve mental health. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is adding 10 new states to the program.
Mental health has been a focus of the governor’s office for the past couple years. The program will allow Kansas to continue to build on the success we’ve seen over the past three years since we began efforts to modernize kansas’ mental health system. The program is set to provide reimbursement through Medicaid for the total cost of services the CCBHC’s provide. The funding also ensures that CCBHC’s can provide a range of services.
