Have you ever wanted your kids to go to the pool, but, didn’t have the money to send them? Or, have you ever thought about paying for some kids to get into the pool? Well, so have quite a few other people in Ottawa, and some pushed the Ottawa Recreation to do something about it and, they have responded.
It all started with a story out of Cherryvale about a woman donating $20 to the pool to allow admission for a few people. That springboarded and within a few days, enough money was raised to let everyone in for the entire summer. Ottawans wanted in.
The ORC has started a Pool Admissions Donation Fund. They will be collecting donations to contribute to the fund until July 1st. All donations will go towards assisting pool patrons with admissions rates. Based on the amounts collected, decisions will be made after July 1st regarding the best way the money will be spent. Examples include pool punches for those in need, free swim nights, or free swim days.
