A scare at the Forest Park Pool yesterday, June 23rd. Just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon, Ottawa police were called to the pool for a report of threats with a handgun. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says officers quickly arrived and located the suspect and used their training and experience to take the suspect into custody without further incident. Twenty five-year-old James Davis of Ottawa, was arrested for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. A weapon was recovered and turned out to be a BB gun.
There were no injuries in the incident. Davis is currently held in the Franklin County Adult Detention Center pending formal charges by the Franklin County Attorney’s Office. According to witnesses at the scene, the assault and gun threat happened outside the pool enclosure. Weingartner says very few incidents happen at the pool and the Ottawa community should feel safe to enjoy the pool. Ottawa police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
