Ottawa’s City Park is getting a major upgrade to playground equipment. Say goodbye to the old equipment on the north side of the park. The city of Ottawa says they received a grant for over $119,000 and will use $130,000 from the Special Parks Fund to install new equipment . This will replace the slides, and the apparatus that has the loose swinging walking bridge.
They will start removing the old equipment July 8th and, weather permitting, the new playground should be completed in time for Labor Day. The upgrades will be safer and allow for more play time for more kids. The playground upgrades will be the second major change to City Park in the last few months. The new splashpad at the south end of the park by the gazebo has been a huge hit, drawing a good number of people each day, not only to the splash pad, but also using the gazebo and surrounding tables for picnics. City officials say it’s good to see people in the park again. If you haven’t checked it out , do so soon.
