Garnett has a new Economic Development/Grant Writer. Jessica Mills has accepted the position. She moved to the Garnett area last fall and has welcomed the change from a bustling metropolis to a tight knit community. Jessica graduated from the University of Oklahoma and has held a variety of positions across the country, from sales in California to assisted living in Florida. She says each place has provided insight and knowledge that she can use in writing grant proposals throughout Anderson County and assisting in Garnett’s needs.
She says she truly appreciates the new role and her goal is to acquire needed funding for as many of the projects on the plates of both the city of Garnett and surrounding communities as possible. Her personal goal is to live simply, and says her desire, both professionally and personally, is to be a positively charged asset to the community. After spending some time in Garnett, Jessica says many community residents have already made a positive impact on her life, which lets her know that she is in the right place.
