One company near Salina is making a splash in the AG Tech industry and the technology could help with the lack of a labor force. AGCO is utilizing artificial intelligence to bridge the gap. There are driverless grain carts, autonomous tilling machines and now AGCO has a farm office in the field. AGCO CEO Eric Hansotia says they are targeting the 93% of customers that don’t buy new equipment:
According to the AG census, between 2018 and 2022, the number of farms using hired labor declined 15%. The artificial intelligence allows the use of almost all machinery to be operated remotely, even down to the planting, spraying for weeds and harvesting.
