Some Ottawa school patrons are upset over aspects of the new sex education curriculum for the upcoming school year. The curriculum is part of an overall health curricula. During the public comment segment of the regular School Board Meeting, Seth Gruber gave one example of what he considers objectionable material:
School officials says abstinence is the basis for the sex education courses, and all information is presented without teachers taking personal stands on any particular issue. The Board approved the new curriculum on a 6 to 1 vote, with Glendy Spigle the lone ‘no’ vote.
