Here is a quick contest, guess how many potholes there are in Ottawa. Think hard. If you guess in the thousands, you’re correct. According to Ottawa Parks Superintendent DJ Welsh, the city of Ottawa has filled over two thousand potholes within the city in the last few months. And, they know there are more out there that need attention, but, if they don’t know about it, they can’t fix it. The best way to get the problem fixed is not to go on a social media rant about potholes and the condition of the streets. The city doesn’t monitor your Facebook page, and if you post on Ottawa KS News, you’ll probably get comments about the car show, or closing the floodgates, or the mythical Aldis mega complex. If you have a pesky pothole you would like filled, or any other problem with the streets or signs, please call the Ottawa Streets Division at 785-229-3656, or email Public Works at ottawaks.gov. Give us a call if you need that information again. By the way, thank you to the crews that came out the day after I called about potholes at the intersections of 4th and Willow, Maple, and Elm. That number again to report potholes, 785-229-3656.
