The extension of broadband internet to some poorly served areas of Franklin and Miami Counties is being hailed as a big accomplishment. During a meeting of county and broadband company officials in Paola, Miami County Economic Development Coordinator, Janet McRae, said it gives lower income people internet service:
Rantoul and the unincorporated area of Stanton in Miami County were the targeted areas. The project was sponsored by MoKan Communications and largely financed by a million dollar grant from the Federal Government.
