A word for the wise from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. They have been notified of another scam going around to citizens of Miami County. A caller is stating they are a representative with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. They state the person they are calling has a warrant for failing to appear for jury duty or other reasons. They tell the person to go to a kiosk to deposit money to clear the warrant.
If you get a call suggesting this, do not follow those instructions! This is a scam. Miami County Sheriff Officials say they will never call anyone about failing to appear in court, or for any other legal matter, and will never tell anyone by phone they have a warrant, or ask for money. Anytime you get a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and wanting money– that is a good indication the call is a scam. If you receive this call, do not give out any information, just hang up and report it to law enforcement.
