Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, less than a year after taking over the Manhattan Animal Shelter, is growing again. On Wednesday, the Emporia City Commission agreed to execute a 3 year agreement with Prairie Paws to operate the city-owned animal shelter. Prairie Paws Director Vanessa Cowie.
She adds that in the last 12 months, Prairie Paws has had a focus to grow their organization to serve a higher number of people and pets in Kansas. A regional approach can deliver animal welfare programs to many rural and often underserved communities more affordably, which results in a more strategic use of resources.
