Kansas Attorney General Chris Kobach issued a statement yesterday in regards to President Biden dropping out of the presidential race. Kobach says the decision to dropout of the race now, instead of four to six months ago, denied hundreds of thousands of kansas voters the opportunity to have a meaningful say in the Democratic Primary held on March 19th. He says it was a waste of over a million dollars in taxpayer money spent to hold a primary when the result was effectively rendered meaningless. Kobach says he has no intent to sue the Biden Administration to recover the money spent on the primary as he sees no evidence the law was violated.
Kansas experienced a rare special election earlier in 2024 referred to as the Presidential Preference Primary where four Republican and four Democrat candidates competed against each other. Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Biden came in first for their respective parties.
