If you have noticed the haze in the air the past few days, you may know that it was from smoke drifting in from Canadian wildfires. This weekend, if you have any breathing problems, you might get ready for even lower air quality. Forecasters say as temperatures go up and wind speeds fall, dust from a Sahara Desert dust storm will make it’s way across the Atlantic Ocean and spread into our area. It’s not unusual and happens every year. It should be rolling in as soon as today and through the weekend.

This same Saharan Dust is already bringing “dirty rain” to the Florida area, leaving behind a dusty, dirty film on cars, windows, and every exposed surface outside. While a good, soaking downpour in our area would help in both situations, based on the forecast, it doesn’t look like we will get much more than a pop-up shower or two until the middle of next week.
