The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. Two of those projects are in Franklin County. The first on I-35 from 8 and half miles north of the 59 South junction to the Miami County line. A guard fence will be installed by J&J contractors from Iola for just over a million dollars. The second will also be on I-35, beginning at the Osage/Franklin County line, northbound for 11 miles, more fence guard installed by the same company.
More guard fence will be installed by J&J contractors on I-25 from the Rock Creek Bridge to the Osage/Franklin county line, also by J&J. There will also be some milling done at various locations in Franklin, Anderson and Miami County. It is orange cone season. All motorists are urged to be extra cautious as they travel the highways and byways of Kansas.
