The annual gathering of the Franklin County Farm Bureau had a somber tone to it this year. Nick Hasenkamp was special speaker and he is a farmer whose father took his own life some years ago after suffering some severe physical and mental health problems. Hasenkamp had a message for the children of farmers:
According to the National Rural Health Association, farmers are three and a half times more likely to die by suicide over the general population.
