One of the suspects in a Franklin County Homicide will be in Franklin County District Court today, August 15th. Forty-one year old Timothy Corn of Ottawa, will be formally arraigned on charges of first degree murder and felony interference with law enforcement. Corn is accused in the shooting death of 44-year old Nathan Boggs of Ottawa, just west of Princeton, in July of last year. Court documents state that Corn intentionally and with premeditation, killed Boggs. Thirty five year old Jessica Smith originally faced the same charges; however, in a preliminary hearing held last week, Franklin County Attorney Brandon Jones, says Smith provided evidence against Corn that made it very clear that Boggs was the only one involved with the shooting and at a hearing on Tuesday, the murder charge against Smith was dropped. She still faces sentencing for the felony interference with law enforcement charge soon and will continue to cooperate in any future trial in the case.
Corn faces a life sentence if convicted of killing Boggs. The arraignment hearing is scheduled for 11:00 this morning in Franklin County District Court. It is expected that a trial date will be set following the arraignment.
