The legendary Dolly Parton is set to visit Kansas City later this month to celebrate her Imagination Library of Missouri partnership with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Imagination Library Program helps provide age-appropriate books each month to children ages 5 and under at no cost to their families. Dolly describes her motivation in creating the Imagination Library…her daddy:
In Kansas alone, nearly 75,000 kids have signed up for the Imagination Library, which provides a free book for all children every month until their 5th birthday. If you signed your child up on the day they were born, they would have 60 books in their library when they turned 5. The focus is to promote literacy and reading to all children in the world. Dolly will speak in Kansas City on August 27th.
