One of the four homicide suspects in Franklin County was formally arraigned yesterday. Forty-one-year-old Timothy Corn, of Ottawa is charged with first degree murder and felony interference with law enforcement in the shooting death of 44-year-old Nathan Boggs of Ottawa, just west of Princeton, in July of last year. Court documents state that Corn intentionally and with premeditation, killed Boggs. At the arraignment, a pair of pretrial conferences were set. The first September 23rd and the other on October 24th.
Thirty-five year-old Jessica Smith originally faced the same charges; however, earlier this week, her murder charge was dropped after she presented clear evidence that Corn was the lone shooter in the incident. She will testify against him at a jury trial that is scheduled to begin October 28th. Franklin County Attorney Brandon Jones says the trial could last up to five days. If convicted, Corn faces a life sentence.
Another murder suspect will have a plea hearing Monday, August 19th. Anthony Alvarado, charged with the killing of Dalton Presley in July of 2022, originally was going to present a self defense argument in a jury trial. However, that has changed, and he will offer a plea of some sort at a hearing set for 10:30 Monday morning.
