Drivers in Kansas are putting the ‘pedal to the metal’. The Kansas Highway Patrol says it’s issued a staggering number of tickets for extreme speed this year. Troopers from the KHP say they have ticked 1500 drivers for speed over 100 mph and that’s just since January 1st. He says the fastest this year has been 151 mile per hour:
That ticket was just over $1,000. Over the past decade the state has seen more than 3000 of those tickets every year since 2021. But, in a twist, KHP says regardless of the speed, drivers cannot be arrested for speeding alone, due to current state law. The KHP says they encourage drivers to drive like their family is in every vehicle to ensure everyone can get home safely.
